MP3 Downloads

Select Taylor chapel messages are being provided as an .mp3 download.

To download an .mp3, right-click the appropriate link. If you are using Internet Explorer, select "Save Target As." If you are using Netscape or Firefox, select "Save Link As." Save the file to the location of your choice.

Software
.mp3 files can be played back on most computers using most software programs including Windows Media Player, WinAmp, Real Player and other media players.

Internet Connection
Download times will vary, but any connection to the Internet should allow you to download an .mp3 file. Most chapel message downloads will range from 8 to 12 megabytes (MB) in size.

Podcasting

Podcasting combines .mp3 downloading (see above) and RSS (see below). With software called "podcatchers", you'll be able to have select chapel services -- and eventually other Taylor audio programs -- automatically sent to your computer or portable media player (iPod).  If you're too busy to listen to our audio online, podcasting will allow you to listen at your leisure, wherever you are, without having to worry about downloading the files yourself!

Software
To subscribe to a podcast, make sure you have "podcatcher" software installed.

If you have iTunes, simply click on the "Subscribe with iTunes" button.

If you do not have iTunes or would like to use a different podcatcher, you will need to install podcatching software such as iPodder, nimiq and Doppler (all are free!). Other programs can be found here, and some RSS aggregators (see below) will also handle podcasts. Once you have installed a podcatcher, follow that software's method for subscribing to our podcasts. (The "RSS | Podcast" button links to our podcast's RSS feed.)

Internet Connection
Download times will vary, but any connection to the Internet should allow you to download an .mp3 file. Most chapel message downloads will range from 8 to 12 megabytes (MB) in size.

RSS

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a method for sharing Web content, such as news headlines and summaries. Using an RSS reader, you can view content from various sources, including Taylor University news headlines, blog entries and more.

Use the orange RSS buttons, and the software listed below, to subscribe to our RSS feeds.

Software
RSS Aggregators (also called feed readers) download and display RSS feeds for you. Many aggregators are separate, "stand-alone" programs, including FeedDemon, BlogNavigator, and others; other services will let you add RSS feeds to a Web page, including: Newsgator, Bloglines, and others.

Streaming Audio and Video

Taylor streams audio and video of chapel messages, athletic matches and other events and performances.

To listen or watch, simply click on the appropriate link. Your Windows Media Player should be automatically launched, with the audio or video playing shortly thereafter.

Software
Microsoft's Windows Media Player version 9 or higher is required to listen or watch. (Real Player is neccesary to listen to Football and Men's Basketball webcasts.)

Internet Connection
Audio streaming requires a dial-up or faster connection to the Internet. A broadband connection (DSL, cable, etc.) is necessary for video streams.

PDF Documents

Occasionally, you will find documents on our Web site in .pdf format. This format, created by Adobe Systems, Inc., allows us to provide documents to you in their original format and design.

Software
The free Adobe Reader, version 5 or higher,  is required to view .pdf documents.
