From www.taylor.edu - Taylor University, integrating faith and learning

"Therefore, let him who until now has had the privilege of living a common Christian life with other Christians praise God's grace from the bottom of his heart. Let him thank God on his knees and declare: It is grace, nothing but grace, that we are allowed to live in community with Christian brethren." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Welcome to our community! Residence life at Taylor is much more than a cluster of campus buildings that house students. Although the residence halls offer a variety of living options and each carries its own flavor, the halls themselves are only the rich soil into which the seeds of personal and spiritual maturity can take root and grow. This is why all of our students live on campus for the majority of their years at Taylor.

Halls are intentionally integrated, so underclassmen are living with and learning from upperclassmen and vice versa. In living together, students are exposed to a variety of people and opinions, as well as a host of shared experiences.

Formal residence hall programs combine with the "informal" interpersonal experience of living together to complement the overall purpose of Taylor and, more specifically, the goal of residence life. This goal is to create an environment that encourages personal and spiritual growth and fosters the basic values of Christian community, such as consideration for others, integrity and self-discipline.

Philosophy

Taylor's Residential Philosophy was established by the University founders who determined that Taylor's mission would best be carried out in the context of a residential community. Recognizing their wisdom, Taylor has chosen to remain true to this conviction for over 150 years by continuing to provide opportunities for students to experience true community living. In so doing, the residence life program at Taylor has built a strong reputation, and many graduates have pursued full-time positions in residence life at colleges and universities across the nation.
