Dr. Mary N. Muchiri to Hold Book Signing
09.10.2009
Dr. Mary N. Muchiri, associate professor of English at Taylor University, will hold a book signing of her
latest work, "Papers on Language and Culture: An African Perspective," on Sept. 26, from 10:00 a.m., to 1:00 p.m. in the Upland Library.
"Papers on Language and Culture" is Muchiri's most recent volume and follows earlier books "His Banner Over Me Is Love: The Dreams of an African Woman" (AuthorHouse Publishing, 2006), "Saved Through Fire: A Family Experiences Kenya's War of Independence" (Essence Publishing, 2004), and "Communication Skills: A Self Study Course for Universities and Colleges" (Longman, 1993).
"Most of the papers reproduced here have either been presented at a national or international conference, and some have been published elsewhere," Muchiri said. "I have obtained permission to republish because I think it is important to have them all together. Having all the papers in one volume helps to show how they relate to one another and thereby provides a more meaningful dialogue on this topic, through cross referencing and the cumulative effect that is impossible when the papers are read separately."
Proceeds from the books will benefit the Josephine Wambui Kimori Scholarship Fund. For more information, visit: http://faculty.taylor.edu/mrmuchiri/.
Muchiri joined the Taylor faculty in 2001. She and her husband Humphrey live in Upland, Ind.
