Collins Receives Taylor's 2009 Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award

Dr. Phil Collins, professor of Christian educational ministries at Taylor University, is the recipient of
the 2009 Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award.
The award was presented during this morning's annual Faculty Chapel in the Rediger Chapel/Auditorium. Collins, a member of Taylor's Biblical studies, Christian education and philosophy (BSCEP) department, is a 1982 graduate of Taylor. In addition to his Taylor degree, he holds an M.A. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (1993) and a Ph.D. from Purdue University (2005).
According to Dr. Quinn White, the recipient of the 2008 Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award, Collins, "receives high praise from students and colleagues for teaching effectiveness and ... supervises the maximum number of summer student practicums allowed because he enjoys that kind of along-side-of relationship with students."
In addition to Collins' classroom responsibilities, he worked with Taylor's summer CRAM program, served on the Faculty Personnel Committee, led the Christian Educational Ministries program and is acting chair of the BSCEP department.
